The Power of Perception

Heres a story I would like to share:

Timmy and his friend Tommy went to a gathering in their neighbouring community. There were children, elders, uncles and aunties and other friends present.  At the end of the day both friends were asked what they thought about the event.

Timmy: Dude I loved the event.  There were children running around and it seemed so nostalgic to me as to how I used run and play around like that.  The beautiful silk dresses the girls wore were intricate and divine.  The colours and the scenery of the halls and rooms was decorated very nicely.  It took us 15 minutes to get a picture taken of the whole guys' crew and that was really fun to make. The night was filled with good food, great talks surrounding philosophical issues and walking outside for that good fresh of air.

Tommy: Dude, It was kind of boring.  The kids were too loud screaming their lungs off.  The guests at times weren't talking because they had beef which these other guests told me about.  I mean, it could have been fun if I could hang around with the people I wanted to but they were usually busy with someone else.

Judging by the responses, the two clearly have different experiences to share.  Timmy had a great time and Tommy didn't unfortunately.  Reason being: Both have different mental mindsets.  Timmy has started learning about the Law of Attraction and just changing his thoughts into positive ones.  Tommy on the other hand, is just the same.  The amount of difference which their train of thought has made, affecting their decisions, interaction with people and types of topics of discussion are all affected by a mindset.

Moral of the story: Be grateful, life is too short make the most of it.  Be happy and make others around you happy.

Kids are Jedi Masters

Feeling tired, a little depressed, lonely, can't find the energy to get up nor feel like doing anything.  How about this, ask kids to come over.  Not the kind you find out of control but the ones that are curious learners and want that someone grown up to tell them cool things about.  Just now I was in my bed on a 2 pm afternoon (yes living the life of a student in the summer with nothing else to do) watching an HBO series the Game of Thrones and in a sudden my 2 neice and nephew walked in my room.  Fast forward 10 minutes i'm outside in my balcony bathing under the sun and typing this blog in a rejuvenated state.  Yes energy is contagious.  Sitting next to someone depressed, well you betcha your not gonna be a happy sailor.  Sitting in a room with a person who starts laughing out of the blue and talking with you, you named it your gonna be having a laugh.
Kids are young Jedis, using their force to give us that boost of excitement and fun in our lives.  They're
great along with being energetic, fun and exciting.  They have no boundaries, they're filled with questions and they will absolutely ask the most random yet thoughtful questions (i.e. if a zombie and a lion fight who will win?)...advice for people chilling with kids, never underestimate any question and actually give it some thought when they ask something.  Never dismiss it like its pointless, maybe for you but the answer means the world for them.  Be a kid and think like one with the experience and knowledge of an adult along with the imagination of a child to give a thoughtful answer.
"Well the lion would win, but...since the lion gets exposed to the blood of the zombie therefore he dies in the end like always...the zombies win!

Lifes Good

From any angle, any way you look at it life is the point that its amazing! Its only your mindset that determines whether or not you make it amazing. The beauty of it is not defined by our experiences but our perception of them.  Happiness truly comes from within, external stimuli are just information, our connections and senses of fulfillment to those experiences are what count the most. Be happy and make others happy by dishing out that beautiful, contagious smile of yours :)

How to Make the Most of Time

We all ask this simple question: "what is time?" but we fail to find words or thoughts that would answer this simple worded yet such a difficult question.  Although last night I may have embarked on a spiritual journey which may have possibly hinted me closer to an answer.
As I lay in a meditative state my mind broke down many conscious barriers which gave me an inspirational shock. We always complain that we never have enough time, what we could do if only we had enough time on our hands.  The beauty of it is is that we DO have enough time, we just don't have the focus.  Many times at a task my mind wanders off kind of like an ADHD riddled kid where my plethora of thoughts cloud my mind drifting me away from my task at hand.  What I realized last night though was that whenever I shifted my focus away from a thought my mind went into idle mode and thats where we spend most of our time.  Letting our minds wander off in thoughts where its consumption or fuel is time.
Whenever we have to do something or see when its due we always run to check the time. Why? Is it because time gives us a reference point for when to approximately start? Maybe but why not instead of looking for the time we try to get a "feel" for when the time is right for us to focus our efforts on the task at hand.  I for one feel much more empowered when I ignore the fact that time will always run and instead "focus" on whatever I need to do which then will avoid all attention to time.  Its the age old dilemma that time always goes fast whenever we enjoy ourselves or have a good time, and whenever we're on that last hour of a hectic shift we can't wait to end, time goes way too slow.
To me time is truly of the essence! It works in conjuncture to what we project in the moment.  If we're bored it goes slow, if we're excited we'd feel as if there was not enough time.  The point here is to make the most of what you've got.  One of my favourite quotes is "life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain" which to me speaks volumes about time and to a greater extent our life in general.  Throughout our lives we bicker over small things, argue over the smallest affairs and right before we fall asleep we carry these lousy thoughts with us.  In regards to time, it will always run, its just a matter of whether or not your willing to enjoy and make every second of yours count towards a positive experience.  Be happy wherever you are, if you're in a boring lecture or meeting think about what makes this experience unique because many people throughout the World would love to know what boredom is like ;P.  There is always a way to turn a negative into a positive.  And really what makes something negative? Preconceived thoughts about the subject matter, conformed opinions about it or should be your intuition that's really the best judge of anything.  Nature is the most beautiful and the most common thing around us, maybe the folks in LA disagree but a simple river, mountain or field can affect us in the greatest of ways.  Right now I'm living with my family in San Jose, California for the summer and the closest natural thing we've got is the Mission Peak mountain.  It is truly beautiful, breathtaking to say the least and tons of people trek up the mountain above 2,500 ft to witness the beauty that awaits them at the top.  Getting close with nature really allows us to get closer to ourselves, as a matter of fact humans are a product of nature so why not embrace something that has affected so much you.  Living in a material world causes us to lose our connection with nature which causes us to dwell on useless worldly issues such as money and power. Ask an old man and he'll tell you how fast his life has passed and materialism never helps.  As my brain is flooded with many tangent thoughts I will try to stay "focused" :) and say that appreciation of everything, even time is a good way to make the most of it.  We always perceive time to be something negative, how it causes us to age and takes away our youth but if we take a closer look at it time is truly a beautiful thing.  It allows us to grow wise with age, it brings forth maturity from our adolescence and it brings us closer to the most memorable moments in life.  Last time I checked I do not have a memory of how happy I was to have a $100 in my wallet as opposed to trekking Mission Peak with my family and experiencing what time is...priceless

The Beauty of Children

We all remember the good old days when summer was the pinnacle of our existence and the impending first day of school was the lousiest feeling of our lives.  Yes, I am talking about childhood! The time period of our lives which has long gone but has remained significant.  The days when a trip to the toy store was all that you could ask for and watching your favourite cartoons after a long day at school was the best feeling. What is it that makes this such a beautiful time of our lives? I remember always trying to be older and be part of the "cool" older crowd being my older brothers and cousins but now that I've officially segregated into the "cool" stage of my life becoming 22 I've already started to wish that I was not aging so fast.
The beauty of family is that you get to meet many children.  The beauty of children is that they hold much more wisdom than their elders, if only the elders listened.  Yesterday night I was at my uncles house and I had an awesome time with my younger cousins.  All were around the between the ages of 8-11 and man oh man was that an experience for me.  I started off talking to them about dinosaurs, then we got to aliens, then ghosts, religion, energy, ESP and all the way to spirituality.  Not really something an average Joe expects from children but it was me who learned more from them than they learned from me.
At the end of the night I felt as if I made a change in their lives and they too made a change in mines.  We did an exercise which a hypnosis practitioner showed me a few years back.  "Imagine a ball a between your hands and now try to bring your open palms together and contain this imaginary sphere of energy and now as you hold this energy combine it with mine", as I told them this we learned indeed that there is such thing as humans capable of creating this energy just at the tips of their hands if they truly focus and believe it to be certain.  This simple exercise of mine blew their minds as it did mines when I first saw it and who knows maybe it opened a whole new door of possibilities for them.
Children are our future although we forget to appreciate them in our present.  I guess we forget that we were once kids, our present turmoils and problems of our adulthood have veiled us from acknowledging the beauties of our kids.

Nostalgic Childhood Reminiscent Memories

what is love? a state of the mind asking itself a complex question or the heart giving away a simple answer to gives us many questions but few answers...who are we to trash those optimistic thoughts while only seeking pessimistic never smiles over the things that count since he weeps only on the smaller advice to my children: be happy :) love life and love those within is too short, enjoy every second of it...shes the one i said...right the instant moment i saw her, she was the one...that was enough clarification from my heart to convince me...i dont believe in love at first sight, its more like sighting for that first love which fills a void no other emotion can achieve...thats why life gives us those moments to where we have to look twice...whats the fastest thing in this universe? i'd say its time....ask an old man he'll tell you the same thing...whats the most beautiful thing? love...whats the tallest thing? the height of your father when picking you up from the ground...whats the brightest? the light from the sun the instant you come out of your home...whats the most colourful? the forest...whats the shortest? the distance between you and your mother...whats the most frightening? having no one...whats the stupidest thing? fighting...whats the most confusing? asking why people hate others...whats the most interesting? when someone answers your question...whats the happiest moment? when your parents gave you something you really wanted

In my amazement, the beauty of the universe shines...behold those glorious stars, mighty in their size and deep in their features holding within them the mysteries of the universe...its there, the answer its there...everythings there, just look at it slowly and you will see it there...hidden beneath the curtains, its there...

What is God?...something so great that when i look outside my sky, i become overwhelmed with the amount of stars i the point my mind could only consider infinite as a logical solution for their total count....the sky is black, pure with clear sustenace from the Creator to put them there for our admiration...and only our admiration towards the One that is omnipotent and all beauty and grace in nature bask His name in glory...Oh mind cannot grasp what you my simplest, weakest form i look up, but in my deepest forms of thought, the mind begins to collapse when trying to fathom what you are...

What is time? It is something so illusory that it baffles the much as to i cannot complete this point
